Who We Are
Starting in 1891 as a Sunday School meeting for the children of St. George, Memorial’s fellowship has established itself as a beacon in the community. On Dec. 20, 1891, the first church building was dedicated. In 1896 the first building was destroyed in a tornado, rebuilt, and then destroyed by fire in 1941. Seven months later the building was built again and still stands today. As the church grew additional educational space was added in 1965. Throughout the years there have been many influential members and leaders in our church body. The building, method’s and modalities may have changed over time, but The Message has not changed.
We are a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and continue to fellowship and worship weekly. Our aim is to Make Much of Christ and share The Good News of Salvation with all of St. George, the low country, SC, and our world. We remain a committed body of believers. Whether it means having church in the parking lot or in the building, we love to get together to worship Christ and encourage one another in the faith. Currently, we have services on Sunday Morning at 10 am. We do have a radio broadcast for those who are more comfortable sitting in the parking lot. We also have a nursery and Children’s Church available during the Sunday service. We hope to add back additional worship services, choir ministry, and Sunday School as soon as it is safe to do so (Post-Covid).
We would love to have you and your family to come for a visit and let us share the love of Christ and fellowship. Also, you are welcome to join us online as we stream our services on Facebook.
